The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has launched a brand-new social media campaign tagged with the hashtag #Italiain. The short press release introducing this new digital diplomacy initiative affirms that the social media campaign will describe – through images, videos and infographics – the several aspects of the Italian diplomatic activities around the world. The campaign will be primarily conducted on Twitter (@ItalyMFA) and via the new MFA Facebook page (@ItalyMFA.it).

The new Italian Ambassador to the United States, Armando Varricchio, produced a short video to kick-off the campaign. In this video the Ambassador describes the interior of his Embassy in Washington DC and some of its key activities.
Unfortunately, the fact that the MFA of Italy is posting such contents only in Italian and with no English subtitles, limits the potential of the campaign to reach a broader international audience.
